2013 MotoGP: Crashfest at Sachsenring During Free Practice

Sunday's race on German ground at Sachsenring will be interesting... to say the least. Free Practice 1 this morning saw Jorge Lorenzo set the fastest lap in FP1 with 1m22s047, despite riding with a broken collarbone.

Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa is 0.174s down and he is followed by Rossi, Marquez and Bradl. Extremely good lap times for CRT rider Aleix Espargaro, who finished FP1 in the seventh position, half a second behind Cal Crutchlow. Hiroshi Aoyama rode today and he was the 17th fastest, a good performance, given his recent ring finger tip amputation.

Turn 11 at Sachsensring looks like THE turn, as a many riders went down there. Three Ducati riders had problems there: Dovizioso and Iannone crashed, with the latter wrecking his machine big time, while Nicky Hayden run off-track. Cal Crutchlow also had his moment as he tested the gravel patch in Turn 1 in the final minute of the FP1.

As FP2 also came to an end during the writing, we can see changes as Bradl was the top rider, beating Lorenzo's FP1 time by 17 thousandths, followed by the same Pedrosa. Top 5 was complete with Marquez, Lorenzo and Rossi. Espargaro maintained his 7th place.
