We admit that the first thing we saw in the new Morgan revealed today is that the headlights still look like a cross-eyed pug with its short nose. But other than that, the Aero Coupe is one of the most ‘easy on the eye’ cars we’ve seen in a long time. If we had a summer resort, this would have to be in our driveway no matter what.
The body is based on the GT3 Aero race car, but also borrows from the last Morgan coupe, the 2006 AeroMax of which only 100 were built.
Power for the Aero Coupe comes from a 4.8-liter V8, that was found in the old BMW 650i. It’s now been tuned to produce 390 horsepower and 361lb-ft of torque, which is enough to push the aluminum car to 62 mph in just 4.5 seconds in the case of the automatic or 4.2 seconds in the case of the manual.
The Aero Coupe will officially bow at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, together with a couple of other fresh models from the British company.
