Mazda has announced that their all-new 6 is going on sale in the US on January 2, 2013, with a starting price of $20,880, without the $795 destination charge - $21,675 in total. This price is for the sedan variant, fitted with a manual six-speed gearbox.
For a kitted-up Grand Touring model, with all the available optional extras, the starting price is $29,495, which surprisingly makes the car cheaper than the top of the range variant of the old model, which is now listed at $29,900. The top spec car gets 19-inch alloys, instead of the 17-inch ones the car comes as standard with, dual zone climate control, the complete slew of safety aids, leather upholstery, a six-speed automatic gearbox and many more.

Engines-wise, the Mazda6 wades into battle with an excellent 2.5-liter four-pot engine engineered with the SKYACTIV philosophy in mind, and it makes 185 hp, driving the front wheels through a standard short-throw six-speed manual gearbox. A 2.2-liter twin-turbo diesel lump will join the range by the middle of next year, and it is now being promoted via a Mazda6 Grand-Am diesel-powered racer, which uses a modified version of the production engine, pushed all the way up to 400 hp.
