FoMoCo did promise us that the 2013 Lincoln MKZ was going to be completely different from the Ford Fusion. We didn’t really believe them until today, when the American automaker revealed full details of the car that will go on sale later this year.
The MKZ is a mid-size sedan designed with American luxury in mind, and this shows in the way the styling is bold yet elegant. It’s also packed with features and comes with a powerful engine lineup.

Among its party tricks, the midsize model comes with standard Continuously Controlled Damping (CCD) adjustable suspension with three driving modes, plus brings an optional sliding panoramic roof that’s the largest and most impressive we’ve ever seen.

“The exterior’s front graphic is repeated in the dramatic sweep of the new instrument panel, helping tie the interior to the exterior in a harmonious manner," said Wolff. "These flowing forms – along with the open center console – create a comfortable and functional interior that particularly appeals to younger, more diverse drivers we believe will now consider Lincoln."

From launch, the 2013 MKZ will come with three powertrain choices, starting with a 2.0-liter turbo engine with 240 hp and 270 lb-ft. This is estimated to return 22 mpg city and 33 mpg highway.

Next up is a 3.7-liter V6 with 300hp and 277 lb-ft rated at 18 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. Though not even estimated figures are available for it yet, the most frugal MKZ will be the Hybird, which uses a 188 hp Atkinson-cycle 2.0-liter engine.
