BMW invited the DTM BMW Champion of 2012 Bruno Spengler to do an interview with Karim Habib, the Head Designer of BMW in order to answer some of the questions the fans asked on BMW's Facebook page.
Bruno starts off by asking about the new front end design. As Karim explains, this was needed in order to make a statement. The GT is bigger, while also strong and agile so the whole look of the car had to show these qualities, not only the rear end or the interior space.

The air breather was the next topic on Bruno's short list of questions. The reverse 7 shape gills on the sides of the car are not there just for esthetic reasons but also to help out with the car's aerodynamic coefficient and improve airflow in and around the wheel wells. Also, the rear active spoiler has almost the same aerodynamic function. However, as Karim explains, the one on the GT moves in and out of the tailgate in order to maintain the sleek look of the GT.

The main question on everyone's mind was if there will be an M version of the GT, a so-called BMW M3 GT. Karim didn't disclose any official information but his answer is going to start up a whole new level of rumors. He said that if there is proper demand for such a car, an M version might see the light of day somewhere in the future.
