Audi has taken the wraps of a new customer racer in the form of the R8 LMS ultra, which will start being delivered in March 2012. The car developed by quattro GmbH was supposedly developed based on customer demand.
“We have close ties to our customers. In the R8 LMS ultra we consistently implemented all the performance measures which ensure that we’ll be able to continue to offer an intercontinentally competitive and attractive race car in the future,” said the Managing Director of quattro GmbH, Werner Frowein.
Under that lightweight engine cover is a 5.2-liter V10, which received a racing exhaust system for better torque curves. Depending on the homologation rules the car has to adhere to, the V10 delivers up to 570 hp.
Deliveries will start in March 2012, with prices set to start at € 329,900.00 (plus VAT).
