Following the introduction of the CrossPolo and CrossGolf model earlier this year, German manufacturer Volkswagen took the wraps off the new CrossTouran, now available for ordering in Germany. The CrossTouran comes with both visual and technical refinements.

“The Touran already follows the new Volkswagen design DNA and impresses externally with a dynamic character line, a new, powerful rear-end design and two-part taillight clusters,” a company statement reads.

Using that as a starting base, Volkswagen fitted a "modified bad road kit", as Volkswagen calls it, complete with longer suspension springs, giving the CrossTouran 20 millimeters more ground clearance than the standard model. There is also a mix of 215 tires at the front and 235s at the back, both on 17-inch alloy wheels.

Helping create the visual impact that sets the CrossTouran apart from the new MPV range are the widened wheel arches and side sills, as well as the differentiated front and rear bumpers and the black grained protective strips on the doors.

Interior notable features include a roof rack in matt aluminium, decorative trim in stainless steel look, electric windows front and rear, extra comfortable seats in the front with height adjustment and lumbar support, leather steering wheel plus leather trim on gear lever knob and handbrake and a special seat cover pattern.

Customers get to choose between TSI, TDI and natural gas engines ranging in power from 105 to 170 PS, while in terms of fuel efficiency, the CrossTouran uses 4.8 l/100km and has CO2 emissions of 133 g/km. The German minivan is available at the starting price of EUR 27,700.
