First rumors of the open-top version of Nissan’s SUV, the Murano, started appearing a long time ago. However, the vehicle will become reality very soon, as the company is unveiling the car at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show.
In order to make the long wait a little more bearable, the company has released a teaser image of the new model. The Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet, as it's named, will be a convertible crossover that aims to give a bit more headroom and fresh air to its passengers.
The company says it wants to showcase its new levels of design and know-how. However, in our eyes at least, they proved that SUVs are pose-mobiles and no longer used for offroading. The Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet will be the world's first convertible all-wheel drive crossover.
When you realize that the car will be one of few cabrios with enough legroom in the back to call itself a true four-seater, it does start to make a bit of sense. Nissan also says there is enough space in the back for golf bags or luggage even when the top is down and tucked away in the boot. Speaking of the top, the manufacturer has not released any information about it, but we can guess it will be a fabric one because a metal version would take up to much space.
One detail that was released by the manufacturer about the new car is that it will offer the same high levels of interior quality as the current version. The car will be officially unveiled on November 17th at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show. Production is expected to start in 2011, with prices unannounced yet.
