2010 WRC Edition for the Ford Focus RS

Ford Switzerland has brought the World Rally Championship (‘s atmosphere) to the roads with the introduction of a WRC edition for the Focus RS.

The car’s livery was voted on a special website last year. 45 percent of the users chose the version seen here. The edition is one of Ford’s RS division birthday gifts for itself and fans, as this turns 40 this year. What else could cure the middle age crisis than rally car for the road?

Actually the Focus RS WRC edition pays tribute to the iconic RS1600 launched in the crazy 1970. The fifty units wear bespoke “Froze White” clothing, with black and green stripes & stickers as accessories. They ride on 19-inch OZ Superturismo.

Inside the mad hatch a special plaque autographed by Ford rally drivers Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen remind the passengers that they ride is a special edition.
The car’s technical specifications remain identical to its regular RS siblings, if we can call Focus RSs that. This means that the front wheels have to handle 305 HP coming from the 2.5 liter turbocharged straight five cylinder powerhouse. So the first hundred is dealt with in 6 seconds dead and the top speed reaches 263 km/h. If you're willing to pose as a rally driver, you'll have to pay 37,950 euro ($53,050) for the car.

We know that the 305 HP output means that you get about the same power than in the actual rally car but a power increase would’ve been welcome. It looks like we’ll have to wait for the upcoming Clubsport version of the RS which will bring a 50 HP premium (along with a weight reduction and other goodies) to play with.
