2010 Mitsubishi Outlander Revealed in Australia

Mitsubishi Australia today revealed the 2010 Outlander, a model inspired by the Outlander GT Concept displayed earlier this year at the New York Auto Show. The production model, launched in Australia as 2010 model year Outlander, is featuring a wide array of enhancements at both the interior and the exterior.

The first thing you'll notice when looking at the car is the new front grille, whose design in inspired by the Lancer Evolution’s “jet fighter” look. Reshaped front bumper, side mirrors, fenders and bonnet, restyled headlamps, a new rear bumper and side sills are also contributing to the overall sporty appearance of the car.

Inside, the car brings new seat, door and dash trims, grained leather to premium models, double-stitching, chrome accents and a new instrument cluster design.

As for engines, there will be two configurations available. A 2.4-liter 16-valve engine produces 167 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 226 Nm of torque at 4,100 rpm. It is mated to either a five-speed manual transmission or a CVT with Sports Mode sequential style shift changes and INVECS Smart Logic.

A second 3.0-liter V6 engine will also join the range and will produce 226 horsepower at 6,250 rpm and 291 Nm of torque at 3,750 rpm. It is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission with Sports Mode sequential style shift change and INVECS Smart Logic.

“The new Mitsubishi Outlander is squarely targeted at couples and young families who are on-the-go people who are focused on wringing every last second of enjoyment out of life," Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited president and CEO, Robert McEniry, said in a release.

“You can throw your surfboard or mountain bike in the back, plug your iPod into the USB port, and you – and up to six of your friends – can go places you’ve never been in comfort, style and safety,” McEniry said.
