2010 Ford Taurus Resale Value, 39 Percent Up

The manner in which American manufacturer Ford managed to navigate through the turmoil of 2009, as well as the new way in which it chose to make and advertise its products makes wonder's for its vehicles and, ultimately, their owners.

The carmaker thought to give us an example of that fact today, by announcing that the 2010 Ford Taurus' resale value has jumped 39 percent over the one of the 2009 model. That translates into an extra $7,100 for the Taurus owner who resells the car after a year. The amount of money gained is $2,500 over the 2010 Toyota Avalon, Taurus' most fierce competitor.

“The successful product launch of the 2010 Ford Taurus coupled with the vehicle’s best-in-class quality, upscale design and state-of-the-art technology has resulted in a sharp improvement for the brand,” said Rose Peng, Global Lifecycle Analytics Department (GLAD) manager.

The revised Taurus, introduced last year at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) comes equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control with Collision Warning, Intelligent Access with Push Button Start, MyKey parental programmability, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross Traffic Alert, Rain-Sensing Wipers, EasyFuel capless refueling, Ford SYNC and Voice-Activated Navigation with SIRIUS Travel Link.

It is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 Duratec engine which develops 263 horsepower and a torque of 249 foot-pounds. The engine is paired to a six-speed automatic transmission which gives it low fuel consumption and reduced CO2 emissions.

“In the first half of 2010, Taurus retail sales were up 154 percent over the first half of 2009 while incentives were reduced by more than $1,600 per unit,” continued Steve Ling, Ford North American Car Marketing manager.
