The 2010 Buick LaCrosse is brought back in the spotlight, this time thanks to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) who rated the new model with the maximum safety score. In order to qualify for such a rating, a tested vehicle must score "good" in front, side and rear tests and come equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) - standard on the 2010 model.
"The Buick transformation continues with the 2010 Buick LaCrosse, a sculpted, responsive luxury sedan. This newest member of the Buick family has the highest quality and safety standards that customers have come to expect from Buick," General Motor said in self-praising statement after the IIHS announced the new results.
The tested vehicle was equipped with side airbags, front and rear head curtain airbags and front seat-mounted torso airbags, ESC, ABS, daytime running lights and rollover sensor.
The 2010 Buick LaCrosse, which is already available through Buick's authorized dealership network, offers a choice of two engines, 3.0- and 3.6-liter, plus a six-speed automatic transmission, particularly aimed at reducing fuel consumption and providing a smoother ride.
The 2010 model has several advanced safety features, starting with front-, side- and roof-mounted head-curtain air bags, StabiliTrak stability- and traction-control system and ending with Buick's OnStar system.
“The new LaCrosse was created with great attention to detail, craftsmanship and advanced technology,” said Susan Docherty, Buick-Pontiac-GMC vice president. “It builds on the success of Enclave as the next step in Buick’s revitalization. And, as with Enclave, our goal is to attract a whole new buyer to our dealerships for LaCrosse.”
