2010 BMW 5 Series LWB Full Details and Photos

German carmaker BMW had just released the new long-wheelbase (LWB) BMW 5 Series Sedan, developed and built specifically for the Chinese market at BMW’s plant in Shenyang. The sedan features new straight-six power units and a wide range of BMW EfficientDynamics technologies, as well as a complex suspension technology.

The car’s wheelbase is up by 14 centimeters compared to the European version, while a suite of other features enhance the sportiness of the new luxury sedan. Other BMW characteristics are also featured, including daytime driving lights generated by LED light rings, optional xenon headlights, and L-shaped rear lights.

Inside, the car combines the driver-oriented cockpit and the high-tech instrument cluster in Black Panel technology with a number of luxury features, such as four-zone automatic air conditioning, rear-
seat entertainment, a cooling box as well as electrically adjustable sunblinds on the rear side windows and a folding table integrated in the backrest of the front passenger’s seat.

The 2010 long-wheelbase BMW 5 Series is powered by a range of three straight-six power units developing between 150 kW/204 hp and 225 kW/306 hp maximum output. All versions of the LWB sedan come as standard with eight-speed automatic transmission. According to the carmaker, fuel consumption and CO2 are down by up to 18 percent compared to previous models.

Just like many other models in BMW’s lineup, the LWB 5 Series also offers innovative driver assistance systems from BMW ConnectedDrive, such as BMW Night Vision able to detect individuals, the BMW Parking Assistant, the BMW Lane Departure Warning, and the BMW Head-Up Display.
