Nissan Sentra fans who always dreamed about a sportier model of this car finally got the chance to own it without having to buy the performance-oriented Senta SE-R Spec V. The Japanese automaker today rolled out the Sentra FE+ 2.0 SR, a sport-style model that "was created in response to customer demand for a sportier looking Sentra without going all the way up to the high-performance SE-R or Spec V models," as Nissan explained in a press statement.

Both Sentra FE+ 2.0 SR and 2.0 S will be priced at $17,760 and are scheduled to on sale on April 17, 2009.

“With so much attention being paid to high value, high mileage vehicles like Sentra today, we want to offer customers a range of choices within the lineup – so they can find the perfect level of equipment, sportiness and performance to fit their needs and budgets,” said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, NNA.

The 2009 Nissan Sentra lineup now includes seven models, starting with the newly-released FE+ 2.0 and ending with the Spec V. The SR lineup starts with a standard 2.0 S and features sport-inspired exterior elements such as side sills and rear spoiler, sport grille, dark chrome bezel headlights and dark smoked bezel taillights, 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels and exhaust finisher.

The SR product range is available in six exterior colors, including the limited Sentra SE-R/SE-R Spec V colors, Nissan said. These models will be offered with a Charcoal cloth interior.

“We’ve been inviting customers to take a closer look at Sentra for its value, style and performance. Now we’re adding one more reason – more choice,” Castignetti concluded.
