For all those of you who haven't seen the Death Race movie, this car, shown at the Moscow tuning show, will only seem as an unfinished, Mad Max-like vehicle, with no purpose whatsoever. For those of you who have seen it, the purpose of the Russian built Camaro will still elude you, but at least you now know what they intended to show us all.
The Camaro looks as in the movie, a vehicle ripped right out of a scrap yard, boasting loads of crude, unpainted metal and iron bars. The car, built by Russian Moscow Arts and Industrial Institute students, does exactly what it was intended to do: shock.
We must admit its creators managed in doing what they set out to do: make the car as unappealing and frightening as possible. And frightening means exactly that, especially because of the hood mounted machine gun and roof mounted rocket propelled grenade launcher. Without the ammo, of course.
Otherwise, the Camaro looks like it was taken right out of the movie, just after a few takes were shot. The rear metal sheet (known in normal vehicles as a rear fender) is embellished with the usual bullet holes, glass is no where to be seen, being replaced with metal grilles (windshield, side windows, rear window and even headlight, as if by suffering damage in that area would make the car unusable) and all the required metal work to make the car as movie worthy as possible.
The Camaro is posed to draw crowds where ever it goes, mostly because, to our knowledge, the Death Race contraptions haven't gone on a promoting tour.
