WheelsAndMore today rolled out an aftermarket package for Mercedes Benz CL500/550 that brings several styling and engineering modifications to the V8-powered model.
As you can see for yourselves in the adjacent photos, the German tuner created quite an aggressive and stylish appearance, partially thanks to a lowered body and upgraded suspension system. New TS-1 ultralight forged wheels are also included in the package, according to a report by MotorAuthority.com.
The most interesting part of the tuning kit is obviously the power boost. In standard configuration, the 5.5-liter V8 engine option develops 388 horsepower (that's around 285 kW) but, with the help of the aftermarket package, it now generates 450 horsepower (335 kW) and 770 Nm (575 lb-ft) of torque.
In other words, the tuning house managed to bring the CL550 V8 performance figures close to those of the twin-turbocharged V12 configuration of the CL600 (517 horsepower/385 kW).
In order to get the highest possible power, the tuning company installed a custom exhaust system with sport catalysts and upgraded manifold as well as an improved ECU. The suspension system has been upgraded as well, for better handling and control at high speeds and around corners.
Although performance figures are yet to be unveiled, the standard configuration pushes the car from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.4 seconds, while maximum speed is rated at 155.3 mph (250 km/h).
Obviously, there are no pricing details at this point but expect to pay up to several grands for the full package, as it brings both engineering and aesthetic improvements to the standard CL550.
