In the world of American muscle cars, the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am holds a very dignified place due to its scarcity and legendary performance. If you're a diehard fan of the breed who bleeds 100 octane gasoline, then you might be interested in this 1974 fully documented two-owner car with only 15,250 miles on the clock.
The second-gen Firebird replaced the first's 'Coke bottle' design cues with a far more swoopy body style, characterized by the large C-pillars. However, this Trans Am's centerpiece isn't its aesthetics, but the 455 cu. in. (7.5-liter) V8 mill crammed under the long hood.

Arguably the last high-performance engine of the original muscle car wave, this car is equipped with the Super Duty version of the mill, boasting a strengthened cylinder block, 4-bolt main bearings and a nodular iron crankshaft, as well as forged rods, aluminum pistons and high-flow cylinder heads. When it was new, the brawny SD 455 unit had an output of 310 horsepower.

Mated to a Borg Warner T10 four-speed transmission, all that old school oomph is sent to the rear wheels via a sturdy 10-bolt rear end. As for driving dynamics, the suspension system is typical Trans Am and is aided by power steering, chunky sway bars, reconditioned shock absorbers and standard issue power brakes. 15-inch Uniroyal Steel Belted radial rubber wraps an attractive quartet of Pontiac Rally II wheels.

This concours-restored award-winning Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is one of only 212 Super Duty units built in 1974 benefitting from the aforementioned stick shift gearbox. Also, would you just look at the high-quality finish of the Cameo White paint job garnished with typical Trans Am visual sizzle. Mesmerizing, ain't it?

Open the door and you'll be enveloped by a sea of Deluxe Blue vinyl. The supportive bucket seats look every bit as nice and rich as they did 40 years ago. Below them lies a set of color-keyed floor mats and like-new carpets. A Hurst shifter, black Formula steering wheel and a correct Delco radio further enhance the look of the cabin.

And now for the hardest part - the price. Currently in the inventory of RK Motors Charlotte, this 1974 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Super Duty commands a whopping $149,900 price considering the ultra great condition the car presents itself in and the unique pedigree surrounding the Trans Am moniker.
