“We have designed a trike for the Rocket III that will surprise a lot of riders,” Texas-based Motor Trike owner Jeff Vey says, and taking a closer look at the photo gallery after the jump will prove that he’s rather right making this claim.
The Motor Trike Triumph Rocket III packs together the company’s independent rear suspension and the acclaimed might of the world’s largest production engine. Motor Trike’s on-board air-compressor for the patented Air Ride suspension in part of the package, and with over 4” (10 cm) of travel, things really look promising. The kit also includes power steering, progressive coil over shocks, and an integrated disc brake system. While some might be suspicious as to how much stopping power does the Triumph Rocket III Trike have, knowing that multiple-piston calipers and a final shaft drive are used should provide piece of mind.

On the aesthetic side, the trike kit sports many of the design cues of the original Rocket III, so the final product represents a seamless transition from the two-wheeled world to the trike universe. The trunk is generous, to say the least and it offers 5 cubic feet (141 liters) of storage, lighting and a 12V power outlet, and hidden door hinges to retain the sleek looks.

Billet aluminium Torque Thrust wheels are part of the standard package, but a wide variety of optional parts and accessories is also available, including 17” tires, fenders, ABS integration, a parking brake, a trailer and a corresponding hitch, chrome rear bumpers, covers and color-matched painting. A touring trike and front fairing will also become available this month.

Motor Trike Triumph Rocket III trikes can be ordered through the Triumph authorized dealerships, and if dealernews is right, the price tag for a new machine is $27,999 (€20,520), with full factory warranty. Motor Trike can bestow its magic upon Rocket III Touring (2009 - current) and Rocket III Roadster (2010 - current) bikes, but for the price of the kit and other options, you should get in touch with Motor Trike.

A 3-year, 60,000 mile (96,000 km) warranty comes with every kit. Non-painted kits can be manufactured and sent to a dealer in 5-7 days, while the painted ones will need 14-17 days to make it in the Triumph showroom, Motor Trike adds. Installing such a trike kit will make your Rocket III become a 55 inch-wide (140cm) bike, with a 75-inch (190cm) wheelbase, 118-inch (3 meters) length and tipping the scales at 1,283 lbs (581 kg).
