The debut of the "real" 1965 Mustang witnessed the introduction of several changes compared to the original models, now referred to as 1964 1/2.
On the other hand, Ford tried to refine the engine lineup with options that made more sense for its pony. The 170 straight-six was gone, and the carmaker introduced a 200 Thriftpower specifically to replace it. The new six-cylinder developed 120 horsepower, up from 105 horsepower on its lazier predecessor.

The 260 V8 also waved goodbye to the Mustang lineup, so the base V8 was now the 289 2-barrel, producing 200 horsepower. The 4-barrel version continued to be available, though its output was upgraded from 210 to 225 horsepower.

Ford also introduced other smaller refinements on the new Mustang, and the 1965 example posted on eBay by West Coast Classics (username westcoastclassics) exhibits an unusual mix of old and new. The garage in charge of finding a new owner for the car claims the Mustang rolled off the San Jose plant in early 1965, but despite being a full "new" Mustang, it still used the window cranks and the door handles from the 1964 1/2 sibling.

The car rolled off the assembly lines with the new 200 six-cylinder engine under the hood. It was paired with a 4-speed manual transmission (still in the car and still working).

Painted in Rangoon Red, the Mustang still flexes the original shape, and based on the photos shared by the garage, everything looks flawless. The paint didn't even fade throughout all these years, as the Mustang has always been parked in a garage in Southern California.

The engine starts, runs, and drives perfectly, so the Mustang is ready for the road when you win the auction. However, the buyer is unlikely to drive the Mustang too much, as the odometer indicates a number most people will probably want to preserve.

The original mileage is 17,760 miles (28,581 km), which explains why the Mustang looks so good. The car spent little time on the road, so everything was adequately preserved in the garage.

The convertible is a time capsule that won't require any repairs, but anyone in the classic car business probably knows what this means. The Mustang can't sell cheaply, and this 1965 straight-six makes no exception.

The garage configured the eBay auction to begin at nearly $24,400, but it also enabled a reserve, so this won't be the selling price. It didn't share any specifics on the reserve's value, but anyone who wants to buy the car without a fight can trigger the Buy It Now option set at $32,500.

The Mustang is parked in Torrance, California, and despite flexing a spotless shape, you should take it on a trailer to preserve the incredibly low original mileage.
