A 1963 Chevrolet Impala convertible that was last on the road no more, no less than 47 years ago is fighting for a second chance on eBay, hoping someone would buy it and then start a full restoration.
Based on the photos shared online by the seller, this ’63 Impala is a project car in all regards. The body requires plenty of metal work, with the front, in particular, showing signs of damage, possibly after a minor collision.

eBay seller classiccarsandjeepparts doesn’t provide any specifics on this front, so an in-person inspection is more than recommended, especially if what you’re planning is a full restoration to factory specifications. This is pretty much the only way to figure out just how much of this Impala continues to be original, especially as some aftermarket parts can already be spotted, including the custom hood.

While the car seems to qualify for a restomod project, the engine under the hood is believed to be original. The unit in charge of putting the wheels in motion is a 327 (5.3-liter) V8, though it’s not known if it’s still working or not.

The 327 was the first choice on the options list in 1963, being offered with 250 and 300 horsepower. Both versions were fitted with a four-barrel carburetor, but the 250 configuration used a Rochester, while the more powerful sibling came with a Carter unit.

Probably the biggest surprise is the low mileage. The odometer indicates just a little over 21,000 miles (that’s about 33,000 km for our European readers), which kind of makes sense given the car has been sitting for 47 years. With the same owner since 1972, this Chevrolet Impala is clearly an intriguing find, especially as it retains several original parts.

The selling price, however, could make many people walk away, as the car is ready to go for close to $30,000. Some other offers, however, could also be considered.
