1955 witnessed the debut of the second-generation Bel Air, and naturally, Chevrolet rolled out substantial styling improvements and upgrades that wouldn't usually be available on a premium model.
It was the year when Chevrolet discovered its passion for chrome, making the Bel Air look more exquisite and giving it a more luxurious appearance.

Significant changes happened in the engine department, too, where the Bel Air continued to be available with six-cylinder mills. However, the 1955 Bel Air also came with a V8 option in the form of a 265ci unit with 162 horsepower thanks to a two-barrel carburetor.

The famous 283 wasn't yet available, as it debuted in 1957, but the GM brand targeted people particularly interested in performance with updates for the 265, including a Power Pack option that included a four-barrel carburetor for a maximum output of 180 horsepower. Eventually, Chevrolet launched a Super Power Pack package that pushed the power output to 195 horsepower.

A 1955 Bel Air convertible made its way to eBay earlier this week, straight out of a barn in west Texas. The car has been sitting for over 30 years, so it goes without saying you should expect the typical rust problems and other issues that need urgent attention before it can return to the road.

The Chevy still looks fairly solid, and the interior is in good condition, making me think the car might hide an older restoration whose touches are slowly fading. However, I can't tell if this is an old restoration or proper maintenance throughout the years, so contact the seller for additional information.

I can already spot the usual suspects in terms of rust, including the floors and the trunk, but the damage doesn't look as awful as you'd expect, considering the car's age.

eBay seller elpasoconnection says they didn't try to start the engine, so what happens under the hood is as mysterious as it gets. However, the eBay summary indicates the convertible comes with a 350, and if this is true, then the original engine is no longer in the car. It could also be a sign of a previous restoration, as someone might have overhauled the Bel Air and installed a new engine.

Meanwhile, this 1955 Chevy remains an intriguing find that could find a well-deserved place in someone's collection, especially because it doesn't look as horrible as the majority of 70-year-old cars. The seller knows they own a real gem, so they hope to get $42,500. The Make Offer option is also live, so contact the seller with whatever offer you have in mind. If you want to see it in person, the Chevy is parked in El Paso, Texas, with the owner explaining anyone can come to inspect it.
