It never really crossed our mind that the current Bugatti Veyron, even the non-Super Sport model, was not fast enough for anybody. However, it seems that the people behind it disagree, and now the next Veyron has been tipped to have around 1,600 hp!
This means that it would reach a top speed of 465 km/h / 290 mph, as well as cracking the benchmark sprint in a neck-snapping 1.8 seconds! Want more mind-bending numbers? Well, it will also be some 250 kg lighter, so it will also be more agile around the bends - not the current car’s party piece, we might add...

According to the chief engineer of the project, Jens Schulenburg, who recently spoke to autoexpress.co.uk, they “are working on the next super-sports car [. . .] The big challenge will be reducing weight – we are looking at some incredible technologies, such as wheels made entirely from carbon fibre. We’re considering hybrids, too.

The twin-V8 / W16 engine configuration will be maintained, and so will the four turbochargers, yet its displacement will grow from the current 8-liter, to 400cc short of 10 liters - that’s right, a quad-turbo 9.6-liter W16 engine, with 1600 hp! However, since they mentioned that they are considering hybrids, there’s a very high likelihood of the new car to have such a system.

We also expect that with the revised engine and lower weight, as well as the possible hybrid, it will also be more efficient than the current model, as is the trend nowadays. On the styling side, we don`t really know what to expect, though, considering Bugatti’s VW owners philosophy towards automotive design, it may very well be just an evolution of what the current car looks like.
