Mirror, mirror on the wall, is this the year of the recall? You don't need a magic mirror to get the answer to that question, but we'd like to add that it's the age of the recall we're experiencing, mostly courtesy of Takata and their faulty airbags.
However, this doesn't mean carmakers don't screw up now and then. Take General Motors for example and their latest recall campaign affecting around 15,000 vehicles.

By vehicles, we mean mid-size pickup trucks, namely 2015 Chevy Colorado and 2015 GMC Canyon. All the vehicles affected by the recall conducted by GM and the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). Having your car called in over a faulty component is one thing, but when that broken piece of hardware is the front brake caliper, things get pretty serious.

According to an official statement, 14,838 units manufactured between January 6 and December 24, 2014 in the United States are believed to be affected, as the front brake calipers may be leaking fluids, due to air pockets. Although we all know what can happen in such circumstances, we'll go on and say that the car won't be able to stop in time. Therefore, the risk of a collision increases substantially.

As it is customary in such cases, General Motors will notify the owners, who will have to take their cars to a dealer. There, mechanics will inspect and replace the front brake calipers if necessary, free of charge.

While we don't know how much these recalls will go on, we just hope manufacturers are taking measures to prevent such situations in the future.
