If you're tuned into our drag racing tales, you might be familiar to the Boba Motoring name. We're talking about a small German developer that likes to turn Mk I and Mk II Volkswagen Golfs into contraptions that can run with hypercars, at least in a straight line.
Well, we are now here to see how the specialists infamous second-gen Golf is doing. The compact bomb recently attended a drag racing event in its home country and, once again, the Vee-Dub delivered impressive numbers.

To be more precise, the Boba Motoring Golf managed to complete the quarter-mile task in 8.77 seconds, with a trap speed of 263.5 km/h (make that 163.7 mph).

Of course, the atmospheric conditions and the driving surface can determine important performance changes. For instance, the said run was far from the best delivered to date. And that's because the Volkswagen delivered a staggering 8.27s run back in 2018, when it visited the Santa Pod Raceway in the UK.

As for what hides under the hood, the engine compartment is occupied by a 2.0-liter 16V ABF four-cylinder unit. Working with an Extreme Tuners turbo and an NG Motorsports CNC-ported cylinder head, the unit delivers well over 1,200 ponies while working at 3.3 bar.

To put all that power down, the hatchback packs 4Motion all-paw hardware. And in between the motor and the said system, we find a DSG DQ250 dual-clutch tranny.

Perhaps the best part of this VW Golf is that the machine has maintained its stock look. And since it is still street-legal, we're talking about a monster that can surprise pretty much any aficionado out there, from a radar operator to, say, the driver of a Koenigsegg.

Thnakfully, the piece of footage below allows you to get a good taste of the toy's performance, since it also includes in-cabin scenes of the said run.

There's quite a bit of room in the garage that is this aficionado's heart, so factory-condition classics and widebody contraptions with turbos poking through the hood can peacefully coexist.
