We're not really sure about which part of the Volkswagen Golf that brought us here is the best - the full sleeper look of the car or the fact that its output goes deep into four-digit territory.
To be more precise, we're talking about a second-generation Golf, one that has been redefined in terms of what lies underneath the body - heck, not even the wheel and tire combo found on the vehicle is a complete indicator of the machine's performance.

And that's because this Vee-Dub packs no less than 1,233 horsepower. And no, this isn't a V8 swap, nor does it pack a VR6 motor. Instead, the engine compartment of this German toy accommodates a heavily massaged 2.0-liter 16-valve four-banger, one that works with a massive turbo.

The engine is mated to a DSG tranny (VW aficionados know this as the DQ250), which has obviously been reinforced to cope with the tons of extra muscle. And, to keep all that power in check, the toy packs all-paw hardware.

The age of this car brings it a massive advantage compared to more modern contraptions, with the thing being uber-light, even in this beefed-up form. In fact, this Golf tips the scales at 1,180 kg (this is the weight without the driver).

"How does all that power gets translated to the road?" we hear you asking. Well, the results speak for themselves. That's because the Golf has recently set a new Volkswagen DSG AWD world record.

To drop sone numbers, we'll let you know that the beast completed the quarter-mile task in 8.47 seconds at 269 km/h.

As those of you who are tuned into our drag racing stories might have figured out by now, we're talking about a creature coming from German specialist Boba Motoring. And yes, this is a street car, so, if you happen to find yourself on the Autobahn, you might just see it flying past when testing a new setup.
