If you thought that only General Motors and Takata have problems regarding sub-standard vehicle subassemblies, and that 2014 was an isolated case of too many recalls, think again. This time around, Jaguar Land Rover North America announced no less than three campaigns, which cover an estimated 104,144 US-bound vehicles for three distinct reasons.
According to some documents forwarded to and published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Jaguar Land Rover North America LLC informs that campaign #15V039000 comprises of 74,648 Land Rover Range Rover vehicles that may be prone to a problem that affects the braking system.
2006 to 2012 model year Range Rover vehicles assembled from April 15th, 2005 to September 4th, 2012 suffer from a front brake hose that may rupture prematurely, causing brake fluid loss, which ultimately translates in a longer stoping distance, increasing the risk of a crash. This recall begins this March.
JLR North America LLC also announced that 24,679 vehicles may be fitted with a brake vacuum hose that may’ve been incorrectly routed. This little mess-up allows a hole to be worn into it. The affected vehicle pool includes certain 2013 to 2014 model year Range Rovers made from August 16th, 2012 to January 8th, 2014 and a few 2014 MY Range Rover Sport vehicles manufactured from May 7th, 2013 to January 8th, 2014.
JLR tells that if a hole happens to be worn into the brake vacuum hose, that translates into a complete loss of braking assistance, which will lengthen the distance required to stop the vehicle. This recall is programmed to start on March 13th, 2015 as well. As for the last of three operations, 4,787 units of the 2012 to 2015 model year Jaguar XK (made from March 4th, 2011 to March 20th, 2014) may experience front side lamps (parking lamps) that may turn off after approximately 5 minutes.
Affected owners are recommended to contact the Jaguar and Land Rover customer service at 1-800-452-4827 and 1-800-637-6837, respectively. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or access www.safercar.gov.
