KTM FREERIDE E-SX (2016-Present) Specs, Performance & Photos

The KTM Freeride is a family of small-displacement off-road motorcycles manufactured by the KTM from 2012 until the present (2023), featuring different types of engines, such as two-stroke, four-stroke, and electric.

The series was developed for mountaineering. At the same time, the electric version was also delivered in a race-ready mountaineering version with the E-SX designation and a standard version with the E-SM designation.

The bikes shared the same perimeter frame, composed of steel and aluminum, with the aluminum vertical beam from the swingarm pin and beams and cradle made of steel. The swingarm was also manufactured of aluminum.

The electric model was made in 2014 and was powered by a synchronous-type motor with permanent magnets. The gasoline versions, like the 250cc two-stroke version, were made in 2013, and the 350cc four-stroke was built in 2012.

In 2016, the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer launched the KTM Freeride E-SX, the electric version of the family that delivered a rated output of 10.1 hp (7.5 kW) and a maximum power output of 30 hp (22 kW). The engine was powered by a Lithium-ion battery with a rated voltage of 300V and 1.5 hours of charging time.

On the front end, the bike packed a WP inverted 43 mm telescopic fork and a single brake disc, while the rear end was driven by a WP-PDS shock absorber and a single disc brake.
