KTM FREERIDE 250 R (2016-Present) Specs, Performance & Photos

The KTM Freeride is a series of off-road motorcycles made by KTM from 2012 until the present (2023). The bikes featured different types of engines, such as two-stroke, four-stroke, and electric.

The Freeride series of motorcycles was developed for climbing mountains. In addition, the electric model was also available in a race-ready mountaineering version under the E-SX designation and a standard version with the E-SM designation.

Also, the motorcycles shared the same perimeter frame made of steel and aluminum. The vertical beam from the swingarm pin is made of aluminum, while the beams and the cradle are steel. The swingarm was also manufactured of aluminum.

The first one that saw the light of day was the 350cc version that debuted in 2012 and was powered by a four-stroke engine. The second was the 250cc model manufactured from 2013, powered by a two-stroke engine. The electric model debuted in 2014 and was powered by a synchronous-type engine with permanent magnets.

In 2016, the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer launched the KTM Freeride 250R, a 250cc off-road motorcycle fitted with an undamped Coil Spring Steel (CSS) clutch.

The 2016 KTM Freeride 250 R had installed a 249cc two-stroke single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine fed by a carburetor. The engine was paired with a six-speed manual transmission that sent the power to the rear wheel through a final chain drive.

As for the braking power, the bike's wheels were fitted with a 260 mm disc on the front wheel tied to a dual-piston caliper and a 210 mm disc with a single-piston caliper on the rear.
