KTM 85 SX 17/14 (2006-Present) Specs, Performance & Photos

The KTM 85 SX was an entry-level motorcycle designed for children 11 to 16 years old. The bike was manufactured in two versions with different designations, such as 19/16 and 17/15, where the numbers indicate the size of the wheels: 19-inch front, 16-inch rear or 17-inch front, and 14-inch rear.

The small motorcycle was powered by an 85cc engine with a kick starter married to a six-speed gearbox. It had a small fuel tank, holding only five liters of gasoline, and its overall weight was around 68 kg, perfect for junior motocross.

In addition, the bike was fitted with a special suspension system so that the seat would be as low as possible at 90 cm off the ground. It was 1.30 meters long, and the engine was 41 cm from the ground at the lowest point.

The mini bike was built around a chromium-molybdenum central-type frame, fitted with a 43 mm WP inverted telescopic fork on the front and a WP monoshock on the rear, offering optimum handling capabilities.

As for the braking performance, the 2006 KTM 85 SX 17/14 had installed a 220 mm brake disc on the front and a 200 mm brake disc on the rear that could easily handle the bike's stopping power.

The engine was fitted with a mighty Keihin PWK 28 carburetor that sent its power to the rear wheel via a six-speed transmission and a final chain drive.
