KTM 1190 Adventure R (2016-Present) Specs, Performance & Photos

The KTM 1190 Adventure was an adventure touring bike introduced by KTM in October 2012 at the Intermot Trade Show. It was launched as a 2014 model year and was powered by a 1,195cc V-twin engine based on the one used by the RC8 sports bike.

As the KTM RC8 and unlike its 990 Adventure predecessor, the 1190 Adventure was the first motorcycle with Bosch Anti-Lowside Technology, also known as Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC).

In 2016, the Austrian motorcycle maker released the KTM 1190 Adventure R, the same motorcycle as the base model but with several additional off-road and touring accessories, including wire-spoke wheels with off-road tires.

Besides its off-road wheels, the bike was similar to the base model, packing standard features, such as wire-spoke wheels, an up-swept exhaust system, a one-piece dual seat with passenger grab rails, a small luggage rack, a half fairing, and a small windscreen.

In the performance department, the 2016 KTM 1190 Adventure had installed a 1,195cc four-stroke V-twin liquid-cooled engine at its core, fed by a fuel injection system, delivering 148 hp at 9,500 rpm and 125 Nm (92 lb-ft) torque at 7,500 rpm.

The front 21-inch wheel was fitted with two 320 mm discs and four-piston calipers, and the rear 18-inch wheel packed a 267 mm disc with a dual-piston caliper, acting as stopping power.
