The Honda ST1300 was a robust and reliable sports touring machine designed for long-distance journeys. The bike was adorned with advanced features and safety technologies, but also a popular choice for police departments and law enforcement agencies worldwide.
In 2012, along with the standard and ABS versions, the Japanese motorcycle maker released the Honda ST1300P, where the suffix P stands for Police. The bike came with several upgrades and modifications that allowed mounting police-derived accessories.
The lightweight aluminum frame and suspension were reinforced to hold the additional accessories, such as lights and sirens, with a separate wiring harness, a radio box, and a larger alternator, delivering more current for the added accessories.
Besides the additional amenities, the bike was the same as its predecessors. It had an aerodynamic bodywork, an adjustable windshield, large side panniers, a trunk with integrated passenger armrests, and a comfortable dual seat.
The 2012 Honda ST1300P Police was built on a lightweight aluminum frame, fitted with an air-adjustable fork handling the front suspension and a preload and rebound adjustable shock absorber for the rear suspension.
The braking performance was achieved by three-piston calipers with two 310 mm floating discs on the front and one 316 mm disc engaged by a three-piston caliper on the rear, offering strong stopping power.
The output power was unchanged, with 118 hp at 8,000 rpm and 117 Nm (86 lb-ft) of torque at 6,500 rpm from the 1,261cc longitudinally-mounted V4 liquid-cooled engine coupled to a five-speed manual transmission and low-maintenance shaft drive.
