Segment: Sport Touring
Production years: 2008, 2009
The ST1300 was a touring machine manufactured from 2002 to replace the ST1100 Pan European model from 1990 to 2002. The successor to the ST1100 came with numerous upgrades and modifications, improving its touring capabilities.
When the ST1300 was released in 2002 in the European market and the following year in the United States, the machine featured a larger engine with greater power, an all-new frame, a two-element fuel tank, and a cassette-type transmission.
The new fuel-injected 1,261cc longitudinally-mounted engine delivered more power with smooth and precise acceleration, fitted low in a new lightweight aluminum frame as a stressed member. Like its predecessor, the ST1300 offered a standard riding position.
In 2009, Honda released the ST1300 machine and two other versions, such as the ST1300A ABS with additional safety equipment and the ST1300P Police for law enforcement agencies worldwide.
The 2009 Honda ST1300 followed Honda's recipe right from the beginning without any changes, except for annual color options. The ST1300 was powered by a V4 1,261cc engine, a five-speed transmission, and a low-maintenance shaft drive.
It was a reliable and robust touring machine dressed in an aerodynamic bodywork with an adjustable windscreen for enhanced weather and wind protection, a comfortable dual seat, and large panniers for extra storage.
It also delivered the same power as the first model, with 118hp at 8,000 rpm and 117 Nm (86 lb-ft) of torque at 6,500 rpm. All that power was available at the rider's right wrist, while a complete twist of the throttle in the fifth gear launched the bike to a top speed of 225 kph (140 mph).
