HONDA ST1100A Pan European ABS (2001-2002) Specs, Performance & Photos

For the 2002 model year, in addition to the standard ST1100 model, the Japanese maker also released a version that packed an additional Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), enhancing the bike's control and safety over various road conditions or emergency braking situations.

The 2002 Honda ST1100A Pan European was a sport-tourer motorcycle, first released in 1990 and kept in production until 2002. Over its production years, the bike offered excellent performance with remarkable comfort, perfect for long-distance touring.

With the same 1,085cc powerplant as its predecessors, the ST1100A was equipped with ABS and TCS that enhanced safety and control in any riding conditions, resulting in one of the best touring motorcycles available at the time.

The Pan-European machine came in a lighter, sportier, and more maneuverable package than the Gold Wing model, which fulfilled the requirements of European riders and filled a niche between the Honda VFR750F and the more enormous Gold Wing.

In the suspension department, the 2002 ABS Pan European model packed a 43 mm air-assisted telescopic fork on the front end. On the rear end, the suspension was handled by a preload and rebound adjustable shock absorber.

The stopping power was carried from the previous models and included a 296 mm disc with three-piston calipers on the front and a 296 mm disc paired to a three-piston caliper on the rear for solid braking performance.

The 2002 Honda ST1100A Pan European featured a steel tube frame that placed low a 1,085cc longitudinal-mounted four-cylinder liquid-cooled engine boasting 100 hp at 8,500 rpm and 107 Nm (79 lb-ft) of torque at 6,000 rpm.
