HONDA ST1100 Pan European (1992-2002) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Honda ST1100 Pan European was a sport-touring motorcycle part of the ST series that also comprised the later ST1300 model. The bike was first released in 1990 and kept in production until 2002, filling the niche between the Honda VFR750F sports tourer and the more enormous Gold Wing.

The Pan-European model was a lighter, sportier, and more maneuverable machine powered by a liquid-cooled V4 inline-mounted engine instead of the flat-four used on the Gold Wing model.

The Honda ST1100 Pan European packed most Gold Wing engineering elements, such as the shaft drive, a full fairing, and integral panniers. The ST1100 came in a sportier package and fulfilled the requirements of touring riders.

Some highlights of the bike included the longitudinal V4 engine with a low-maintenance shaft drive, Optional Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and a Traction Control System (TCS), a sizeable 28-liter fuel tank for 480 km (300 miles) of range, and a 40 amp water-cooled alternator that powered multiple accessories.

The suspension was achieved by a 41 mm telescopic fork on the front with 150 mm wheel travel and an adjustable shock absorber on the rear end with 120 mm of wheel travel.

The Honda ST1100 Pan European braking system comprised two 296 mm discs engaged by a couple of three-piston calipers on the front wheel and a 296 mm disc with a three-piston caliper on the rear wheel.

For performance, the bike delivered an output power of 100 hp at 8,500 rpm and 107 Nm (79 lb-ft) of torque at 6,000 rpm from a 1,085cc liquid-cooled four-cylinder engine.
