The 2018 E 53 AMG 4MATIC+ was the replacement for the E 43 AMG 4MATIC. And the new vehicle threw everything away from the previous generation. The engine architecture, the transmission and everything else was new, developed from the ground-up. Under the hood there is a new, 3.0-liter inline six cylinder fed by a big turbocharger plus another electric auxiliary compressor. The total output is 435 hp and 520 Nm (383.5 lb-ft) of torque.

In the power delivery department, the torque is sent to the all-wheel-drive system via a new AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G Transmission. The now fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive combines optimal traction for dynamic driving with a high level of driving safety in all conditions. Some say it can make beautiful drifts too! The electronic system can transfer power between the left and the right rear wheels, not only front to rear.

The overall image of the new E 53 4MATIC+ was enhanced with round exhaust pipes and a more aggressive front bumper compared to the other E-Class variants. Bigger, 20” light-alloy wheels are offered, large enough to see-through the big, 370 mm (14.6in) disc brakes up front and 360 mm (14.2 in) discs in the rear. While the front ones are cross-drilled and vented, the rear are vented only. The AMG letters can be read on the brake calipers.
