So, you've bought yourself a nice SUV. None of the more modern crap with electronic all-wheel-drive systems or differentials that get locked with the push of the button.
No, it's an old-school vehicle built by Mitsubishi back when they actually knew what they were doing. After all, you didn't buy it because you wanted a higher driving position or just to feel safer in case of a collision. No, you bought it to go off-roading.

Well, it's not like you actually had a choice, since there aren't that many roads where you live, and yet you have to get around somehow. There's that crazy neighbor of yours who rides his elephant around, but it's not really your type. You're more of a 21st century type of guy, even though your car might have been made in the 20th, but those are just details.

So off-roading you go, and you're having quite some fun. The car behaves nicely, just like those big wheels would have anyone seeing it believe. You're glad you made this choice and tell everyone how good it is and how they should follow your example. Most of all, you talk to your elephant riding neighbor, but he just smiles and nods all-knowingly.

And then the wet season starts. The roads that didn't exist before now turn into veritable mud-fests. Those big wheels, even though they have mud tires, they turn into a bit of a nuisance. Getting around isn't as easy as before and keeping your pants clean as you get in and out of the car is virtually impossible.

And then the inevitable happens. Your Mitsubishi Pajero gets stuck and no matter how hard you try, your mechanically locking differentials can't pull you out. It's time to face the facts and call your pachyderm-owning neighbor to pull you out. God damn it, you've just remembered he doesn't have a phone. Some people just don't want to live by today's standards.
