Volkswagen Transporter California Beach Debuts
The California Beach promises to mix the appeal of the California with the practicality of the Caravelle. It can accommodate up to seven people, being offered with a two-, or three-, seat rear bench, and further optional individual chairs. The front seats swivel to face the rear, where we can also find a portable table that is stored in the sliding lateral door, while two folding seats are stored in the tailgate.
The Beach offers sleeping accommodation for four persons, with the bench seat folding to become a two-berth bed across the width of the vehicle. In addition to that, a manual pop-up roof offers access to a pop-up bed.
You’ll also have the privacy you need, thanks to pull-own blinds for the side and rear windows and pop-up covers for the front window.
As for the engine range, which includes multiple versions of the 2.0-liter TDI engine, including a 114hp BlueMotion Technology model that comes with eco features such as longer gearing, cruise control, a stop=start system, brake regeneration and low rolling resistance tires.
The list of optional goodies includes items such as larger alloy wheels, a 32-litre cool/warm box (powered by second leisure battery), programmable parking heater, an awning, privacy glass, double glazing and Bluetooth mobile phone provision, as well as satnav and xenon headlight with LED daytime running lights.
Our say: we had a ton of fun when we tested the Multivan, so the California Beach should be a hit.
