Back in 2012, when The Walt Disney Company bought Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion, they announced three new Star Wars installments will follow. The world is pretty wired about Episode VII: The Force Awakens, considering it makes for the first one in which George Lucas won’t be holding the wheel.
That’s also the reason we find ourselves talking about the epic space opera franchise, even though there’s not a lot of automotive spirit involved. On the other hand, considering we are talking about some stunning contraptions - being the fictional machines they are - we find it safe to say the Star Wars All Terrain Scout Transport is worth our time.
And we’re talking about the real size structure, not some scale model a brick builder created over a long weekend. The chicken walker - which is the two-legged walker’s nickname - you can see in the adjacent pictures was created by a person who preferred to remain anonymous, but who was kind enough to offer a fellow Star Wars enthusiast a tour instead.
Now, in the film, the AT-ST was a light, heavily-armed, ground combat vehicle, and able to trek various environments. The so-called stock model was equipped with a medium, chin-mounted, double blaster cannon, a blaster cannon on the port side, a concussion grenade launcher on the starboard side of its head, two clawed feet, and was encased in thick steel.
Designed to be a recon, hit-and-run vehicle, it makes for one of the most popular crafts featured in the Star Wars movies, and having a full-scale replica in your backyard clearly makes for any fan’s dream. According to the Imgur user, the Walker was mostly made from timber, plastic and bits of scrap metal, but clearly is one of the most accurate replicas we ever saw.
We’ll leave you to discover the details, but before that we’d like to mention one more thing: the fans on the back are solar-powered and really do spin around.
