Spyshots: 2014 SEAT Leon Cupra Detailed
This is the very first set of spyshots showing the next generation Leon Cupra, believed to be the most extreme of the VAG triplets, which include the Octavia vRS and Golf GTI.
Insiders have told us the new Leon Cupra will have 260 PS from a 2.0-liter turbo engine. Torque levels haven't been officially decided, but they should be around 350 Nm. To be competitive, this new Leon hot hatch needs to go 0 to 100 km/h in 6 seconds... dead.
Unlike the previous hot seats, the new go-fast Leon will have a restrained look, As a fan of the brand, the rear exhaust look almost exactly the same as it does on the FR model with a 1.8 TSI engine. Likewise there are no big wings, diffusers, oversized door sills and other such parts.
It's hoped that this grownup look will bring SEAT more customers, since it's only natural that people who can afford €30,000 cars like this aren't boy racers. The prototype appears, however, to be equipped with full-LED headlights, indicating that this feature will be fitted as standard to this car.
SEAT is also mulling a Cupra R model with the same 300 hp engine as the Golf R and Audi S3.
