If the French made a Prius, it would look something like this. Pardon our French, but Peugeot has just dropped a bunch of new videos of the 208 HYbrid FE concept, the concept car they released earlier this year and which they promise delivers 2.1 l/100km and super-low emissions of 46 g/km.
Anybody can build a clean car if they fill it with batteries, but because they filled the HYbrid FE with racing car technology, it’s also quite fast, going from 0 to 100 km/h in 8 seconds. Power comes from a 1.2-liter VTi engine downtuned to 68 hp and an electric motor good for 40 hp (30 kW).
That’s not a lot, so the 208 has shed weight to make the best of this setup. The concept uses a single blade of carbon fiber as its rear suspension, has carbon fiber and composite body panels and even a polycarbonate windshield. All this results in 20% of its already low weight being shed off.
