In one of our previous editorials, we suggested that while Europe is struggling economically, what buyers really needed were smaller cars for average city motorists, cheap cars for people who are struggling and crossovers.
French carmaker Peugeot is among the hardest hit by the economic slowdown, and it’s trying to offer a bit of everything. There’s the new 208 supermini, which is smaller and lighter than the 207 it replaces, the 301 budged sedan and soon this, the 2008.

The 2008 is boing to be the smallest crossover Peugeot offers. It’s based on the same platform as the 208 and rumor has it the French are also working on a 1008 with only two doors, which will be more of a lifestyle choice. With that, Peugeot will likely have one of the largest utilitarian crossover lineups, which already includes everything from 3008 to 5008.

Sales of the 2008 could start towards the end of the year. The engine range should include engines borrowed from the rest of the PSA range. These leaked photos come from French magazine L’argus, which suggests the 2008 will make its debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show in March.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
