Like many luxury automakers, Lincoln has been itching to get its products on the shores of China, and after two years of planning, the first Lincolns have finally made it to one of the most important and fastest-growing global markets. Last week, the first shipment of Lincoln vehicles arrived in Shanghai including the all-new 2015 Lincoln MKC crossover and Lincoln MKZ sedan.
It’s not clear how many Lincolns were actually on this first shipment, but the automaker is planning two more by late next month. By that time, customers in Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou will be able to lay their hard-earned money down on a luxurious Lincoln, and by the end of this year, a total of eight dealerships will be open in seven cities. Lincoln hopes to revolutionize the way premium cars are sold in China.

Although it is considerably late to the party, Lincoln is making up for its lack of presence in China with a planned offensive of new vehicles. After the MKC and MKZ, Lincoln plans to launch additional models like the next-generation MKX. This year’s MKX Concept was the first time the automaker had introduced a new concept vehicle outside of the U.S. showing just how important the Chinese car market currently is.

"This is a significant milestone for Lincoln globally. We could not be more excited to show customers the unique environments and experience we've created in our Lincoln dealerships. This is the culmination of months of teamwork and collaboration both in North America and here in China. On behalf of the entire team in China, I want to thank and congratulate the team on both sides of the Pacific," said Robert Parker, president of Lincoln China.

For the time being, all Lincolns sold in China will be exported from plants in North America, but eventually, Ford plans to open localized production plants in that market.
