If Thieves Could Stop Stealing EV Charging Station Cables, That’d Be Great

Well, here’s yet another reason for why the aliens don’t want to visit or communicate with us. While some great minded people are trying to save the planet from a murky fuel burning future, the society’s selfish scum makes its presence and ruins everything as always.
According to a report, a series of attacks on public level 2 charging stations for electric vehicles are going around the city of Vancouver, British Colombia. The problem goes on for quite some time, with thieves coming at night to cut and steal the electric cords.

Why do they need them? Those cables contain fine grade copper wirings, which can be sold to scrap yards for as much as $4 Cn. per each pound. Money that could possibly go for the next drug purchase.

Of course, this wouldn’t happen if the owners of those scrap yards would refuse to pay for such stolen goods, but since everybody wants just to fill up their pockets, no one will know about the stolen public goods if they’re thrown somewhere in the back of a truck under the rest of the scrap metal.

The most appropriate solution would be to stop fitting charging stations with cables, each EV owner having to get his own, just as it happens in Europe.
