If you think that dragsters are only supposed to be really sleek machines that look like pencils with tractor tires, think again. We've found a machine with supercar-like performance that takes the shape of the most iconic army vehicle ever, the Hummer.
That's right, the same truck Arnold Schwarzeneger drives around California can burn rubber like the funny car. Well, it's not exactly the same Hummer and there is no burn rubber involved, but you get the picture.

The proud owner of the vehicle, Grant Fraysier from San Luis Obispo, CA, spent the best part of three years piecing together this amazing vehicle, which isn't actually a Hummer. The body is an absolutely accurate copy of a stock body but with an all-aluminum and the chassis has some weird parts we can't even begin to fathom, also milled from the lightweight metal.

The motor is at least as amazing, if not more. It's a brand new unit built virtually from scratch by Steve Morris Engines. It's got a 615 cubic inch (10-liter) big-block Chevy V8 with a monster ProCharger 136 supercharger attached to the front.

Running massive straight pipes down the side, this thing will pump out 3,029 horsepower and 2,006 ft-lb (2719 Nm) of torque on about 41 psi of boost and methanol racing fuel. To put that into perspective, an army Humvee puts out about 190 horsepower and that's if the weather isn't too hot. Top speed? Only 70 mph (113 km/h), which the dragster can probably reach in 2 seconds.

The other cool think about the Hummer is that it's still built to last. Not only can it handle sand dunes like a Baja truck, but it does most of its drag racing at the Santa Maria Speedway on sand and dirt.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
