The intake manifold on your Toyota VVTi engine is represented by those plastic tubes that reunite at some point in a large tube right behind the radiator. Their function is to allow filtered air to enter in each cylinder in order for the combustion process to take place.
The intake manifold is held in place with some nuts and bolts, so you’ll need a ratchet, an articulated extender and a 10 mm socket. You can also take a flathead screwdriver with you and a pair of pliers to remove some metal collars. Here are some tips:

- Start by removing the electric cables bundle just on top of the intake ports to gain better access
- Remove every bolt and nut holding the intake manifold attached to the cylinder heads
- Disconnect the manifold from the air filter case and check for other connections not to damage them when removing the manifold.
