Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) announces the introduction of the first 125cc automatic scooter for this market, the Activa 125.
The 125cc segment is the strongest one for Honda both in India and worldwide, as last week the 3 millionth CB Shine motorcycle has been manufactured, marking an extremely important milestone in the history of the Japanese manufacturer.

The debut 125cc automatic scooter was conceived to retain the customers who favor such machines and entice new ones to try going automatic but on higher-displacement scooters. Activa 125 is powered by a newly-developed engine which is said to deliver 8.6 horsepower @6,500 rpm and a nifty 10 Nm (7.3 lb-ft) of torque at 5,500 rpm, with a 23-degree gradient capability.

Honda claims a very seductive 138 mpg (1.7 l/100 km) fuel economy for Activa 125, which is more than enough for Western riders to dream of seeing it reaching European and US markets. The new scoot brings in a hybrid dash, tubeless tires and 5-spoke 12”cast wheels, underseat storage and even CBS disc brakes for the Deluxe version.

So far the Honda Activa 125 was announced for India in Pearl Sunbeam White, Midnight Blue Metallic, Asteroid Black Metallic and Force Silver Metallic, with an $869 (€630) price tag for the Standard version and $1,040 (€751) for the Deluxe one. Can you imagine having such prices for such a scoot in the US?
