The vehicle is created as a celebration of the Stuttgart-based carmaker’s 125th anniversary. Though it’s got a slightly longer wheelbase than the S-Class only weighs about a ton.
The modular e4MATIC system, which also uses improved drive components from the SLS AMG E-CELL, generates a continuous output of 231 horsepower from the electric motors, or a peak output of 313 horsepower.
This is enough for a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 220 km/h (137 mph). The range on a full tank of hydrogen is expected to be 620 miles, and electric-only driving can be achieved for 31 miles thanks to an onboard battery.
