Cadillac used to be the only choice if you wanted a big cruiser in North America. Yet, consumers are increasingly buying Audis, Mercedes and BMWs, which has lead to a steady decline in brand image for the company.
Not being contempt to sit on their backsides and wait for the end, company officials are launching a global offensive that recently saw the ATS sedan being revealed, a BMW 3-Series competitor. There’s also that luxury XTS to consider, but simply building executives won’t do in the long run.
So what could act as a halo car for the American company? The Coverj coupe concept that’s going into production or a new mid-engined supercar? None of the above, as Autocar reports the Ciel concept that was revealed at the Pebble Beach event gathered so much attention that it’s the most likely candidate.
This doesn’t surprise us at all, as the design was so evocative and fluid that you couldn’t find a bad angle for the four-seater convertible. We’re strangely puzzled, however, about how they could ever turn this boat into a global product, but the lines are so crisp that it really doesn’t matter.
he most interesting part is that this four-door, four-seater convertible is powered not by some silly hybrid motor, but by a twin-turbo V6 capable of 435 horsepower. This engine is expected to see the light of production and could power the hotter version of Cadillac’s upcoming 3-Series rival, the ATS, and we are really eager to see what the Americans can do against the nimble Germans.
