Audi is planning to give us a successor for the A2 model and the Frankfurt Auto Show will give us an idea of what the car will be like,as it will allow the German carmaker to present the A2 Concept, a vehicle that comes with an electric powertain.

The concept is a four-seater, five-door hatchback that translates the original A2's values into the contemporary era, using Audi's current edgy styling cues.

One of the technologies showcased by this development is Audi's new LED setup. Dubbed matrix beam, this offers special assets, such as an energy-efficient low beam and a non-glaring high beam that. However, just like BMW, Audi is also researching laser lighting (the A2 uses this for the headlights). The taillights vary their intensity depending on the braking force applied by the driver and also project a red triangle on the road's surface as a fog light.

Another tech goodie features on the A2 concept is its glass roof, which can change its transparency at the touch of a button, such as the one used on the new Mercedes SLK.

The interior of the vehicle comes with a futuristic dashboard uses a minimalist setup, using a pod to support most of the elements, such as the steering wheel and a display that serves as an instrument cluster.

Audi hasn't offered any information about the electric powertrain of the A2 concept, only saying that it can offer both impressive performance and a good driving range.
