That’s right, boys and girls. The $22,995 starting MSRP of the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander facelift is $200 less if you compare the mid-size crossover SUV to the 2015 model year. It’s pretty good value for money, especially if you take into account more than 100 engineering and design improvements over the pre-facelift Outlander.
Its most direct rival - the Hyundai Santa Fe - is $30,150. Move on up and the 2016 Land Rover Discovery Sport can be yours for $37,070. Slated to roll into Stateside dealerships late this summer, the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander in entry-level 2.4 ES 2WD guise is laden with standard goodies.
The $22,995 seven-seater crossover SUV boasts LED positioning lights and taillights, 18-inch alloy wheels, a six-way adjustable driver’s seat and 4-way adjustable passenger seat, a six-speaker 140-watt stereo, power windows and side mirrors, heated side mirrors, and FUSE Hands-Free Link with Bluetooth capability.
More than that, the reconfigured cabin includes a better steering wheel design, improved second-row seating, a lot of accent trim and many new or improved amenities. If the 2.4-liter MIVEC engine and two-wheel drive aren’t enough to float your boat, Mitsubishi offers a 3-Point-Oh V6 motor with 224 ponies.
S-AWC all-wheel drive is available for better capability in the rain or snow. Mitsubishi's advanced safety systems including Forward Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control are available at a lower price point for the 2016 Outlander in middle-of-the-range SEL and top-tier GT guises.
A plug-in hybrid version of the Outlander made for the USA is in development and will arrive early in 2016.
